Hagar Park

Today, we went to Hagar Park for cousin Charlie's Graduation Party. This is where Nicolynn ate her first cookie (Thanks Aunt Julie). After dinner/the cookie we played at the park with the Holtrops. (I was going to list everyone's name, but we were all there)

My First Cookie

She must have been hungry because she ate the whole thing... (this was right after dinner, so now I know she's a picky eater)

We got smart and put a bib on her, but the Chocolate still got everywhere.

Goote Lake Party

Wheee....
Yes, Daddy just stands there...
Last week Saturday we had our annual Goote lake party. We went to Rachel's parent house and had a blast. Every year keeps changing because we either have a girl pregnant or a new baby around. This year we had 2 toddlers and one new baby. It's lots of fun watching your kid explore new places.

Nicolynn spent most of the day chasing Elise (Nick and Rachel's girl), or running straight into the water. You would think she would stop by the time she got pretty deep, but those swimming lessons must have paid off, because she is not afraid of the water at all.
Both girls loved going down the slide that ended in the lake, and for some odd reason, Elise likes to water peoples feet. :)
This year Josh and I wanted to go tubing. And Josh started taunting Nick like crazy. He started to make me a little nervous about tubing with him, but Mike also decided to join in the fun which made me feel a little better about it. I started out ok, but after a while I kept falling off every few minutes. (I feel so old...) So I sucked it up, and got in the boat and watched Mike and Josh tube. The next thing I know, Mike keeps falling off, and ends up in the boat with us.
Josh was the only one out there, and Nick gave him a run for his money. I could not believe how long Josh stayed on. Nick, of course, won the battle and Josh finally fell off, but I thought Josh was gonna loose an arm or his suit before he was giving up.
Needless to say, Josh is a better tuber than I am, but we both were so sore for the next few days. It was still worth it! I'd do it again today if I had the chance.

"Momma Said "there'd be days like this...""

Ok, so it wasn't a bad of a day at all. We just had one very different part to our day.

About a week ago Nicolynn and I decided to play in her swimming pool in the front yard. It was HOT so I was in the pool with her, and we were having a great time. A great time until... I hear her grunting.
Now if anyone has a child they know what is coming next. (Yes, this means poop) The only problem with that was, I decided not to put a swim diaper on Nicolynn. (Not a smart mommy) I can be very cheap sometimes, and this was one of those times. So here it comes. Nicolynn and I are in the kiddie pool and I am begging her not to grunt. (If only the neighbors could here me now) Of course that doesn't work. So I jump out of the pool, grab her, and run for the bathroom as quickly as possible. We get to the bathroom, and if course... it's too late. So I start the cleaning process, which involves not thinking, just doing. Next thing I know, I hear a "splat" on the floor. Apparently she was not finished, and I interrupted. Oh, and yes, she had to tinkle afterwards too. What a fun moment...

Emerson Lake

So Sunday we tried to take a little vacation and visit my parents for a day at Emerson Lake. We always have such a good time there. And of course my parents love to play with Nicolynn, so Josh and I get a little parenting break too.
Now one thing you need to know about Emerson Lake, is that it's a fishing lake that we just can't seem to find the fish in. It's fun to try fishing, but the fish especially avoid Josh and myself. So this time we didn't even pick up a fishing pole. Instead we headed for the paddle boats and the swimming dock.

My dad and I had a blast jumping off the dock trying to do dives (that look like cannonballs) and flips (that look like belly flops) and back dives (that look more like back flops than anything else). But that was the highlight of my trip!!!

We also had so much fun playing with Nicolynn in the water. She is very comfortable in the water, but doesn't like to get dirty by the sand. She is 100% girl.

Nicolynn also went for a boat ride with Grandma and Papa. She really enjoyed her short ride, and they went pretty fast too. Soon she'll be fishing out of that boat with them, but probably not this year....

Busy Weekend

This has been another eventful weekend. Nicolynn and I have been keeping very busy while Josh and his dad worked very hard on the deck. It's almost finished, and I am very ready for this project to be so I can have my husband back again.
Saturday, we ended up picking Uncle Tony and Aunt Lindsey up from the airport. YAY!!!! They just got back from their honeymoon. Nicolynn and I really missed them last week, but we had such a good time at their wedding/reception that we can't complain too much that they were gone. :)

Here is my beautiful Baby in the dress I made for her for the wedding!!
It was all Lindsey's idea
for her to wear a dress made of tulle. And it was a GREAT idea. It was so fun and everyone loved it!!!!

A Walk with the Borst Girls

This morning we went for a walk with Miss Marie, Lydia and baby Abigail. It was desperately needed. Abi is almost 7 weeks old, and because the girls took turns being sick and having colds, it's been much longer than that since we've hung out. So we had a good time marching around down town like we used to. Well kind of like we used to.... When it was just Marie and I, we never had a hard time fitting on the sidewalk before. This was a new challenge, trying to fit the 3 girls next to each other without falling of the sidewalk. We just need more practice.
And yes, they did eat half a bag of animal crackers. :)

Another Beautiful Day

Today was another gorgeous day. We checked out the farmer's market this morning, and bought fresh strawberries for Nicolynn to eat. She has been such a picky eater lately. So when I find something she likes, I make sure to keep it around. Strawberries were the thing today. We'll see if she still likes them tomorrow...

Then this afternoon we went to a park with cousin Zach, Aunt Sarah and Aunt Bethany. We had such a good time. Nicolynn and Zach are just starting to want play together at this age, so play dates are even more fun.

A NEW POST FOR THE YEAR 2012

Ok world... here we go.

It's been a very long time since I've shared my life online. The last time I wrote, my baby Nicolynn was still in my tummy, and my life was about to change drastically. Little did I know how much my life was going to change, and how much I was going to change. One thing that changed is I became a protective mom, that is what caused me not to write about my life as much. I didn't want everything about my life and my daughter on the internet.  But recently I have wanted to share with everyone how great my life, my daughter, my husband, and my everything is. But I don't have the time to visit everyone or call up everyone as much as I would like to. So I am going to begin writing again.

Most everyone knows a little about Nicolynn's first year of life. How we struggled with her not eating well, loosing weight, having RSV and  some of the stresses I struggled with through that. Today I feel much stronger than I did before. And the past is the past, so I don't know if I'll end up writing much about that. We learn and grow from the past, and that brings me to who I am again today.

Life is great!!! I enjoy waking up every morning to see my beautiful daughter. She always wakes up singing and babbling in her crib. She is the best gift from God. Josh and I are growing together every day. He is very busy trying to build us an awesome deck, so I don't get to see as much of him as I would like. But soon the deck with be finished and we will vacation in our backyard.

Today Nicolynn, myself and Grandma went for a walk to find a new park. We had a good time walking on the paths and looking at the pond. Nicolynn loves to be outside. We play outside as much as possible. Yesterday we went to Timbertown and played on the swings, and then we came home and played in the yard. We just LOVE to be outside.
